ATR 72 Freighter
The ATR 72 started as a 70-seat regional airliner. With the seats out, the floor strengthened and a cargo door cut in, it became one of the most common regional freighters in the world. It's wide for its size, quick to load, and cheap enough to run that express networks fly it every night.
We fly two, on night express routes across north-west Europe. HB-AFJ is a bulk freighter with the standard forward cargo door. HB-AFN has a large cargo door almost three metres wide, which takes pallets and containers.
The large cargo door
On HB-AFN: 2.94 × 1.80 m, with the sill at truck-bed height. Space for up to five 88 × 108 in pallets or seven LD3 containers.
