Marquesas Islands: inter-island service for Air Tahiti

The story

The Marquesas lie roughly 1,400 km north-east of Tahiti. Some of their airstrips are too short for Air Tahiti's ATRs. So since 2022 a Zimex Twin Otter has flown the inter-island routes to Ua Pou and Ua Huka, under Air Tahiti's flight numbers, with Zimex crews.

It started with a trial: a five-month contract in 2021. The aircraft for that one flew itself there from Switzerland. See: Switzerland → Tahiti
